DescriptionDuties and Responsibilities

OneWorld System Setup/Maintenance:

Maintain Shop Floor Calendar as necessary

Maintain work center set ups for the district

Maintain Resource Units Update as necessary for capacity requirements planning

Generate/coordinate work order activities for the shop floor:

Generate work orders for sales orders on a request basis for release to the shop floor. For example, the District Planner/Scheduler will be responsible for running the batch report that generates work orders to satisfy “will call” orders.

Review part component shortages; make decisions for appropriate substitutions if available; make changes on parts list to facilitate work order completion on the shop floor.

Interact with sales staff should component shortages impact customer delivery requirements of manufactured items.

Manage work order requirements generated by MRP for discrete manufactured parts by reviewing MRP messages, releasing messages in order to create work order headers, and reviewing work order details after work order generation.

Generate special MRP batch jobs on a special request basis so that specific work orders may be generated on a timely basis for completion in the warehouse.

Systematically release using online system all work orders to the shop floor for display/selection at appropriate workstations based on component availability, calculated start dates, and equipment backlogs. Analysis of work center capacities, staff resources, and material availability on a work order basis is required for efficient and effective management.

Coordinate release of programming/drawings to workstations as required.

Respond to work order change requests from sales staff as needed; coordinate work order changes with machine operators/supervisors as required for work in process. The District Planner/Scheduler will be the liaison through which all work order changes must be approved and expedited once work order detail records are created through batch generation.

Utilizing online tools, the District Planner/Scheduler will change work order routings to respond to equipment downtime in order to meet customer requirements of delivery, tolerances, quality, etc. This will require intimate knowledge of manufacturing processes, material specifications, and machine characteristics and capabilities.

Work closely with truck scheduling personnel to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders by identifying daily work orders in process and scheduled work order completions for next day shipment.

Create manual work orders for intradistrict manufacturing requirements on an as-needed basis.

Set up Item Master and Branch/Plant records for discrete manufactured parts as required for manual work orders.

Create and maintain bills of material for discrete manufactured parts as required for manual work orders.

Create and maintain manufactured routings for discrete manufactured parts as required for manual work orders.

Review Capacity Requirements Planning system results:

Systematically manage work center/machine workloads based on calculated start dates to meet customer requirements; schedule/shift work order equipment assignments as appropriate to balance workload and facilitate customer orders.

Publish and maintain equipment backlogs on company intranet.

Note: The responsibilities described above are time sensitive. That is, to maintain productivity in the warehouse to meet customer demands and make the best use of available equipment and personnel resources on a day-to-day basis.

Responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.

Skills and Qualifications

Education and Language: Speak conversational English

Prior Experience: A minimum of 2 years as a Production Control Coordinator, Production Scheduler, District Inventory Control, Receiving Coordinator, or Truck Scheduler.

Office Equipment: Considerable personal computer experience with Windows, spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications.

Special Skills (above average skills required): Intimate understanding and working knowledge of warehouse operations; strong communication skills; strong analytical skills; strong math skills; good organizational skills; self-starter.

Physical Requirements: climbing, stopping, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, distinguishing colors.

General Description of Physical Requirements: sedentary work

Visual Acuity Requirements: machine operators (including inspection).

General Description of Working Conditions: subject to noise ‑ there is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level; worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
