The department seeks to hire a talented individual experienced in financial accounting and capable of working in fast-paced environment. Employee will perform professional accounting duties of moderate difficulty. Employee will be responsible for reconciliation of financial activity, budget management, accounting entries for expenditure corrections, employee reimbursements, and other financial transactions; coordinate and direct financial reporting and audit responses related to grant programs. Employee must have the ability to work independently under strict time deadlines, organize heavy workloads, and prioritize multiple responsibilities. Employee must have the ability to interpret local, state, and federal regulations for compliance in grants management and governmental accounting standards. Employee will be expected to perform other duties as requested by management in support of the department. WORKING CONDITIONS The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSRequires a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Six years of professional experience in finance, economics, budget analysis or a closely related field are required.Substitutions: Experience cannot be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree requirement.A Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the above experience requirement.LICENSE REQUIREMENTSNonePREFERENCESPreference will be given to candidates with financial analysis, financial reporting, grant accounting, and SAP experience. Financial certification is a plus, but not required.Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
