Jacobs is NASA’s largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States.We have an exciting opportunity for a Lab Operations Manager to join our team as we support development and test of the next-generation EVA spacesuit. The candidate will join our team with JETS Teammate company, Intuitive Machines.The selected candidate for this role will:Maintain the Standard Operating Procedures for each Lab, update as necessary and ensure implementation of all applicable NASA, Johnson Space Center (JSC), JSC Engineering Directorate, NASA Crew and Thermal systems division directives and standard practices.

Monitor lab safety activities for compliance with JSC requirements/guidelines and promote best practices in these areas.

Coordinate lab equipment maintenance and ensure that all GSE and non-GSE ancillary equipment (force gauges, load certified straps, etc.) meets calibration requirements. This includes monitoring calibration due dates and processing the proper paperwork for performing calibrations at JSC facilities.

Management of pressure systems equipment, including component calibration, cleanliness requirements compliance, and anomaly resolution.

Approve, coordinate, plan, and schedule all test operations/testing activities for assigned labs.

Develop and/or review essential documentation for the assigned subsystem including assembly procedures, test procedures, and any additional operations-related products.

Periodically status management on lab and test rig activities.

Help to identify project risks as they relate to labs, lab equipment, and GSE.

Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.

Perform other duties as required.

Here’s What You’ll Need:Requisition Qualifications:HS diploma and 20 years of related experience or BS in Engineering Technology or related field and 15 years of related experience.

Experience with assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of advanced Pressure Garment Subsystem (PGS) spacesuits and the xPGS spacesuit.

Experience with xEMU processes and operations in the JSC PGS processing lab and advanced suit lab.

Experience with lab operations, upkeep, and maintenance activities in the JSC PGS processing lab and the advanced suit lab, including the test rigs in these areas, controlled work areas, and manufacturing equipment.

Experience with the development and review of PGS assembly, disassembly, and maintenance procedures.

Experience with safe human in the loop testing of the PGS assembly, including the identification and documentation of hazards in multiple test environments, such as ARGOS, NBL, and 1-G lab testing.

Training certifications in CPR, certified pressure systems operator, hazards in oxygen systems, cleanliness, and contamination control.

Ability to develop processes and procedures and advise on areas for improvement

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical systems, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and component level and systems level testing.

Requisition Preferences:Familiarity with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.

Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle.​
