Description Exciting new opportunity for Technical Accounting Manager with an O& G company in Houston. As Technical Accounting Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and providing expertise on complex accounting matters related to the Oil & Gas sector. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and leadership skills.Technical Accounting Manager Responsibilities:

Lead the implementation and ongoing compliance of accounting standards, including revenue recognition, impairment testing, and asset acquisition processes, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Provide guidance and expertise on technical accounting issues, including lease accounting, derivatives, and business combinations.

Partner with cross-functional teams to assess the impact of new accounting standards and business transactions on financial reporting.

Coordinate with external auditors to support the annual audit process and address any accounting-related inquiries.

Oversee the preparation of technical accounting memos and documentation to support accounting treatments and conclusions.

Stay abreast of emerging accounting standards and regulatory changes relevant to the O& G industry, providing recommendations and updates as necessary.

Collaborate with finance and operations teams to streamline processes and enhance efficiency in financial reporting and analysis.

Requirements

Technical Accounting Manager Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.

Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in technical accounting, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry.

Hands-on experience in implementing revenue recognition, impairment testing, and asset acquisition processes.

Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant accounting standards, with the ability to interpret and apply complex accounting guidance.

Experience with financial reporting software, such as OneStream or ActiveDisclosure, is preferred.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
