Network Engineer

Description We are in need of a Network Engineer in the Energy/Natural Resources industry, located in Houston, Texas. The role involves setting up and maintaining network systems, ensuring the security and efficiency of our IT infrastructure, and managing various network technologies. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Design, install, and analyze network systems including LAN/WAN, Voice, and field comms devices. Develop and maintain robust network infrastructure. Liaise with multiple Telecom providers to ensure seamless communication. Monitor IT and OT networks proactively, interfacing with vendors for resolution during network outages. Oversee IT and OT firewalls to address any security-related issues. Support datacenter network operations and test network back-up procedures, updating documentation as necessary. Engage in continuous improvement projects to optimize network operations. Provide support to field technicians by troubleshooting communication-related issues. Manage projects for new locations and network expansions, ensuring installations are on schedule with construction. Utilize skills in Checkpoint, Fortinet Firewalls, FortiManager, SD-WAN, and Wireless LAN for network management and troubleshooting. Requirements Minimum of 3 years experience in a Network Engineer role or similar Proven proficiency in Checkpoint Expertise in Fortinet Firewalls and FortiManager Experience with SD-WAN Knowledge of Wireless LAN Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred Excellent problem-solving skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work well in a team environment Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex network issues Familiarity with industry standards and network best practices Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly Strong understanding of network infrastructure and hardware.
