Our collaboration is focused on increasing access to care through a growing network of leading specialists and revolutionizing healthcare to save lives and improve the health of the communities we serve.ResponsibilitiesPhysical Therapist Assistant performs components of physical therapy procedures and related tasks selected by a supervising physical therapist; assist physical therapists in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease.

Administers therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities according to the physical therapy plan of care.

Instructs, motivates and Assists patients to learn and improve functional activity, such as pre‐ambulation, transfer, ambulation and daily living activities.

Observes patients during treatments, Assesses, and compiles data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress and reports verbally or in writing to the physical therapist; may communicate updates to physicians.

Fit patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs.

Promotes and Supports positive and professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests and hospital

personnel. Works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines toassure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner. Encourages the active participation of the patientand/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education

Provides positive and constructive feedback to enhance departmental operations. Completes all necessary documentation as outlined by departmental policy and documentation review. This includes, but is not limited to, patient care charting, charge entry, completing peer chart and peer reviews, and documenting on daily schedule.

Utilizes available information management systems to support departmental and hospital goals. This includes utilization of hospital wide e‐mail, information announcements, policies, annual computer mandatories, charge entry, and accessing patient care related information. Access and use of information will meet hospital and information management guidelines.

May perform clerical duties

QualificationsEducation and Experience Required:

Associate’s Degree from an approved program for Physical Therapist Assistants

Current Texas State Licensure (PTA)

CPR/BLS certification with American Heart Association

Graduates eligible for licensure will be considered
