In Fiscal Year 2022, MD Anderson invested more than $1.1 billion in researchThe primary purpose of the Clinical Research Assistant I position in the Department of Infectious Diseases, Infection Control and Employee Health is to conduct patient-oriented research, writing manuscripts or grants and conducting clinical trials assisting the faculty investigator. Coordinates all aspects of protocol conduction as well as the administrative duties involved in clinical trials. Provides functions in the area of Infectious Diseases of cancer patients.Key Functions
Ensures that the conduction of assigned studies is in accordance with Good Clinical Practice, Federal regulations and institutional policies.
Conducts research experiments and laboratory tests associated with specific protocols. To include tasks such as:
· cell culture· western blot· Protein expression and purification· Protein drug binding studies· PCR applications,· immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry· microbiology and bacterial cultures· maintain research equipment.· Evaluate and analyze data. These will include compiling data and analyzing results· Responsible for recording data in the methods requested.
Assists the faculty investigator in data file preparation and attends data review meetings as required by the department. Prepares specific protocol reports and analysis to aid decisions regarding therapeutic efficacy and to assist in manuscript preparation and grant submissions.
Assists in sponsor trials with processing, shipping and handling specimens per the sponsor lab manual
Assist all faculty and all studies in answering lab queries
Assist all faculty with data entry for all assigned trials
Attends departmental monthly meetings as required. Attends research team meetings.
Other duties as assigned .EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree, major course work in one of the basic sciences.EXPERIENCE: No experience.
