Within the Risk Control group, you will work with senior leadership and collaborate with other areas of the organization including Credit, Commercial, Accounting, and IT while developing sophisticated reporting and analysis.This position is hybrid to our Tulsa, OK, Dallas, TX or Houston, TX office.Job Profile SummaryPerforms activities associated with control of commodity and operational risk across all business units.Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Analyze and/or prepare complex reports and records related to daily mark-to-market profit and loss (P/L) variance of trading books, volumetric positions, hedge strategies and Value at Risk (VaR), providing management with explanations of major variances and analytics to support business decisions.
Collaborate with front and back office to quantify and analyze risks associated with potential transactions and to ensure proper deal capture, valuation, accounting, and compliance with risk management policies.
Develop and maintain complex hedging strategies and sophisticated models to support business segment commodity risk mitigation.
Provide analysis and recommendations for acceptable hedge instruments and practices to ensure compliance with hedge accounting requirements.
Prepare back tests, scenario analysis, stress tests and performance analysis to explain the drivers of risk and mitigation strategies.
Utilize statistical modeling techniques to forecast potential commodity price changes as well as monitor macroeconomic market conditions to adjust models accordingly.
Monitor, control and report daily transaction activity from financial and physical desks to ensure compliance with approved risk management policies.
Update and validate market price curves on a daily basis.
Utilize the Risk System software to maintain all physical and financial obligations and prepare mark to market position reports.
Work with trading, accounting and contract administration employees and management to ensure accurate processing of all financial trading activities.
Work closely with IT team members to design, validate, implement, troubleshoot and maintain various system solutions for both positions and P&L reporting.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics or related field with job-related experience
Master's Degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics
Work Experience
Experience performing detailed financial analysis and modeling of complex commodity trading activities.
Experience and/or training related to:
Accounting standards and supporting documentation.
Trading policies and practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: commodity markets and financial derivative instruments such as forwards, futures, swaps and options.
Knowledge of: advanced statistical and data modelling techniques utilizing various software including MatLab, R and Python.
Knowledge of: risk management methodologies and Monte Carlo simulations.
Knowledge of: risk measures.
Skills in: UI Path automation software a plus.
Skills in: Microsoft Excel required.
Ability to: apply complex mathematical concepts, including algebraic formulas, statistical methods, calculus and derivative pricing models.
Ability to: to grasp and accurately communicate complex transactions, strategies and models to varying organization levels while highlighting relevant information to a targeted audience.
Ability to: to mine, manipulate, interpret and analyze large data sets across multiple applications.
