Job Title: Sr. Systems Engineer / Administrator
Work Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)
Duration: 6 month contract-to-hire
Education/Experience Required: Extensive experience and progressive abilities and responsibilities in the Systems domain. Bachelors not required, but certifications and proficiency with all of the systems below are critical.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Azure, VMware, Veeam, virtualization technologies, and comfortable supporting a diverse set of systems. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for projects affecting the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's computer systems and infrastructure.
Job Description & Responsibilities :

  • Design, implement, and maintain systems in Azure, VMware, Veeam, and virtualization environments.
  • Ensure the availability, performance, and security of the company's computer systems and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate systems and ensure compatibility.
  • Implement and maintain cloud and system policies.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technologies.
  • Document systems, procedures, and processes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
  • Audit the technology environment to evaluate tech-debt and plan for its remediation.
Skills & Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience including progressive learning and skills growth.
  • Certifications in Azure, O365, VMware, and Systems Engineering and Administration are preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
  • Extensive experience with Azure, VMware, Veeam required; newer virtualization technologies like Horizon and VDI are preferred.
  • Strong understanding of server hardware, cloud computing, and storage systems.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and network technology (nice-to-have)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively, including urgently problem solving for executive and board staff.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting (nice-to-have)
