Develops forward looking strategies for automation solutions and technical assessments for lifecycle management of automation systems.

Leads execution of capital projects pertaining to automation systems and produces and maintains automation standards.

Supporting the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of all Midstream automation equipment. This includes automation equipment such as distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote terminal units (RTUs), and human machine interface (HMI) equipment.

Functionally directing company technicians and supervising contract labor used to construct or enhance automation systems.

Leading company in awareness of new developments in Automation technologies, and changes in Codes and Standards.

Applying specialized knowledge to ensure the safety, reliability, and cost effectiveness of technology used to meet business requirements.

Reviewing specifications, estimates, and approval documents and guiding projects through design and implementation.

Interfaces with system manufacturers and third-party integrators to ensure compliance with company standards.

Leads electrical design efforts and oversees electrical construction projects.

Leads integration efforts focused on data collection and system optimization.

Produces and maintains project documentation such as I/O list, Alarm Database, one-line drawings, cause and effects, control narratives, etc.

Architects, designs, implements, and supports the DCS and PLC systems for Midstream facilities.

Performs complex technical studies to determine appropriate automation solutions.

Reviews, improves, and implements optimized control strategies as well as communication infrastructure.

Participates in process hazard analysis, cause and effect reviews, and alarm rationalization efforts as well as incident investigations.

Conducts optimization reviews and feasibility studies as well as expansion studies related to the automation systems.

Leads safety critical automation projects and ensures adherence to company and industry practices emphasizing Burner Management Systems and ESD systems.

Supports integration efforts focused on data collection and system optimization.

Serves as subject matter expert for the company and participates in technical committees.

Participates in incident investigations and various meetings, trainings, and commercial support.

Leads and signs-off on Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on automation systems to ensure compliance with the company’s guidelines and requirements and on Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for commissioning of automation systems.

Architects and supports user management, intrusion prevention, and recovery processes for automation cyber assets.

Provides mentorship and coaching to junior Automation personnel.

Performs other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Analyzing malfunctioning systems and finding safe, expedient and cost-effective ways to correct deficiencies.

Assists with connection to the company Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) environments at Midstream sites.

Problem Solving: Identifying and correcting safety hazards or system flaws that contribute to downtime or inefficient operations.

Accountability: Responsible for the safety, efficiency and reliability of Midstream facility automation systems and the execution of projects under their direction.

Required:

Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

Technical degree, diploma, Associates degree, or higher degree in Instrumentation, Electronic Communications, or Industrial Electronics

A minimum of 12 years related experience is required; oil and gas industry experience preferred

7 or more years of industry experience in program development and troubleshooting PLC and DCS control platforms (including Allen Bradley)

Strong contractor management and organizational skills

Proficient in applying NEC/NFPA 70

Proficient in Microsoft Office tools

Proficient in PLC and DCS configuration languages

Proficient in inter device communication software and industrial communication protocols

Proficient in diagnosing communication issues

Proficient in common automation data exchange protocols

Proficient in working and collaborating with external contractors

Proficient in networking practices

Proficient in developing control configuration using function blocks, ladder logic, and structured text languages

Proficient in process control optimization, tuning, and sequential functions

Proven leadership skills and ability to influence at a local level and across a broad organization

Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Must maintain valid driver's license

Able to travel 30%-50% of the time

This job primarily requires traveling to Midstream oil and gas facilities, in such cases, individuals are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work is performed partially outdoors.

Able to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions

Able to support operations after hours
