Sr. Revenue Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Senior Revenue Accountant to join our Upstream Oil & Gas team in Houston, Texas. This position is crucial for accurately managing oil and gas revenue records, performing sales variance analysis, and ensuring timely reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

Accurately process oil and gas sales, including deductions, taxes, and royalties in NM, CO, TX, LA and WY

Perform monthly reviews and reconcile cash applications from purchasers.

Assist in monthly and quarterly closing activities, including the preparation and review of flux analysis.

Support audits and respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

Prepare and maintain reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.

Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards and handle prior period adjustments.

Conduct monthly sales variance analysis for assigned properties and provide explanations.

Maintain up-to-date technical expertise through ongoing training and review of industry developments.

Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing guidance and support as needed.

Uphold the company's values, mission, and vision in daily responsibilities.

Maintain confidentiality, protect company assets, and ensure adherence to work schedules and attendance policies.

Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Senior Accountant Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years in oil and gas revenue accounting

Bachelors in Accounting

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex issues independently.

Advanced proficiency in data management and spreadsheet software.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex revenue data clearly.

Effective at multitasking, organization, and building relationships with various stakeholders.

Experience with SAP and SQL preferred
