Job Duties:
Diagnose and repair all types of mechanical and electrical problems on school buses and all types of motor vehicles.
Be the primary technician assigned to perform preventative maintenance and repairs, both major and minor for 20 School Buses and 20 Support Vehicles.
Secure and maintain all assigned tools, parts and equipment.
Substitute for any transportation employee as assigned by the supervisor.
Maintain accurate records of all work performed.
Comply with all safety measures and maintenance procedures as outlined in the department handbook.
Substitute as a school bus driver when necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Operates pressure washers, air compressor, tire machines, wheel balancer, bead setter, air jacks, air tools, grease guns and wrecker.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification
High School Graduate or GED.
ASE Certification preferred.
Must have five years experience working on trucks or buses.
Must show proficiency and initiative as an expert mechanic.
Possess or be able to obtain valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver’s License with all appropriate endorsements to drive a school bus within 120 days.
Possess or be able to obtain valid Class A Texas Commercial Driver’s License will all appropriate endorsements to drive the district wrecker within 180 days.
Be able to obtain a Vehicle State Inspection License.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend vehicle maintenance manuals.
Ability to operate all types of vehicle maintenance equipment.
