Job SummaryJob DescriptionIf you are selected as the Land Negotiator, you will have a firm understanding of the impact of commercial Land decisions and perform complex non-routine assignments. Your responsibilities may involve many phases of land work including, deal negotiation, contract writing and due diligence. Your role will work closely with an Asset Team of Engineering, Financial, Surface Land, HSE, Supply Chain, and Geo professionals, providing Land direction related to various oil and gas transactions.Your position will be expected to communicate effectively and partner reciprocally, in a team environment including frequent interaction with private landowners, attorneys, other operators, and local, state and federal agencies.Your responsibilities may include:
Acquiring, trading, and divesting undeveloped and developed leaseholds
Drafting, amending and interpreting complex oil and gas leases
Drafting farmouts, farmins, lease exchanges, JV's, Purchase and Sale Agreements, Wellbore Assignments, and other similar agreements affecting undeveloped and developed leaseholds
Working with legal counsel to implement oil and gas transactions and performing necessary transaction due diligence
Writing, negotiating and reviewing contracts and the management of contractual matters, that ensure accuracy as well as compliance with corporate guidelines, legal requirements, ethics and industry standards
Represent ConocoPhillips in dealing with partners, private landowners, and local, state and Federal Government entities
Sourcing, evaluating, and completing various transaction types including wellbore divestitures, trades, mineral and leasehold acquisitions/divestitures, etc.
Basic/Required:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
5 or more years of land experience in the oil and gas industry
3 or more years of in-house land experience in the oil and gas industry
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, related business field, other technical related field, or foreign equivalent
1 or more years of experience with various types of software packages used for Land functions (e.g., Quorum, ArcGIS, Enverus, etc.)
1 or more years of experience negotiating, drafting and understanding mineral and surface right agreements
1 or more years of experience in project planning, project and acquisition economics, commercial evaluation and alternative business structures
Solves difficult problems with little or no supervision
Demonstrated knowledge sharing skills, including mentorship
Ability to express sound solutions and ideas to management with minimal preparation and readily anticipates problems and questions
Strong written/oral communication skills essential with the ability to exhibit flexibility and innovation, spontaneously think/respond quickly and be persistent
Strong social skills required with the ability to establish/maintain relationships with internal and external partners
Responds inventively, flexibly and positively when faced with challenges and demands
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
