This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up.The GTP project includes the engineering/design, construction, and commissioning of a new petrochemicals complex that will produce ethylene and high-density polyethylene. The facility is expected to have a 2,080 KTA ethane cracker, two high-density polyethylene derivative units with a combined capacity of 2,000 KTA, all supporting OSBL/Utilities, and infrastructure. Accordingly, the successful candidate for this position must possess a strong safety focus, strong job knowledge, strong leadership skills, a positive attitude, and strong organizational and communication skills.Initially, the shift supervisor will be responsible for the execution of phase 4 project objectives and championing Operational Readiness activities. These objectives include (but are not limited to) developing standard operating procedures, developing training manuals, supporting the project team, equipment inspections and FAT testing at equipment suppliers, providing work direction to operators and contractors during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases and completing other phase 4 activities for the GTP site development and GTP run and maintain portion of the project. Some travel may be required for training at other CPChem sites, equipment inspections, and FAT testing.In addition, the Shift Supervisor will lead the operators to ensure a safe, compliant, and reliable start-up and operation of the new facility. The additional responsibilities are summarized below.This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX and will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations.Responsibilities

Safety and Compliance - The Shift Supervisor is a safety and compliance role model and leader. This individual is accountable for operation of the unit by following the "Tenets of Operation", EHS Procedures, Process Safety Management, Operational Excellence Processes, and operating within the environmental permit requirements.

Personnel - As the first line supervisor, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for the development of a capable and effective team through training and development of each operator, the on-going evaluation of operator performance, maintaining working relationships among shift members and consistent administration of plant and company policy.

Job Knowledge/Operations - The Shift Supervisor leads the shift team to operate in accordance with operating plans and sound operating practice. The Shift Supervisor must gain a strong understanding and overall knowledge of the new facility. Must be able to recognize opportunities for improvement of the plant processes. Must have the ability to trouble shoot unit issues and recognize when to involve other resources.

Responsibilities (continued)

Leadership - Provides leadership to the employees on shift and brings together issues as needed to improve operations. Visibly and effectively interfaces with all positions in the organization. Ensures that employee skills are developed, fully utilized, and recognized. Leads team to ensure that operating equipment is properly operated, monitored, maintained, and readied for maintenance. Openly supports best practices.

Communications - Maintains open and effective communications on and across shifts within the department, unit leadership, other operating, functional support personnel, EPC contractors and on-site contractors. Must effectively communicate deviations to the operating plans and other work plans (maintenance, projects, etc.) to stakeholders in a timely fashion. Able to communicate effectively on issues across the organization. Is responsible for daily communications with the crews. Responsible for daily updates to a wide variety of audiences. Responsible for working with Training Coordinators to facilitate the training of operators on the shift. These individuals monitor training activities and progress to ensure training activities are effective.

Initiative/Motivation Skills - Demonstrates high initiative and is intrinsically motivated. Asserts the appropriate sense of urgency needed for all situations and can prioritize and delegate appropriately. Good presence of mind to understand when other resources are needed and does not hesitate to get others involved. Strives for continuous improvement and can motivate the work force for the same. Initiates and leads change to improve performance and business results.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with at least 7 years of operations experience.

At least 2 years of experience as a shift supervisor.

Effective communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.

Experience writing/reviewing procedures and training manuals.

Computer knowledge/skills.

Preferred Qualifications

At least 7 years of experience in OSBL/Utilities, ethylene, polyethylene operations.

Previous experience with commissioning/startup of new chemical plant or refining processes.
