Job Description
Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care. Assists physicians during examinations and procedures.
Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse. Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit / department. Requires an associate's degree and is certified as a registered nurse Prefer Bachelors degree in Nursing.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient care, through the initiation and continuation of the nursing process;
a plan of care is developed based upon assessed identified needs. The Registered Nurse works closely with the medical staff, as well as other professional staff, ancillary department members, visitors and families.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

One or more years in experience desired specialty
National certifications in your specialty preferred
License / Certifications
License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
BCLS required (current at time of hire) / maintained throughout term of employment
ACLS required within 6 months of hire / must have current ACLS to be a Charge Nurse / maintained throughout term of employment
PALS preferred / must have current PALS to be a Charge Nurse
TNCC required for current staff within 18 months from January 1, 2016, and for new hires within 18 months of hire.
Previous Cardiac / Telemetry experience preferred
EKG Course within 12 months of hire
Previous Critical Care Course preferred
