About the Role
Arrow Capital Resources is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to support our construction and precast concrete operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, vendor coordination, and material management within the construction or manufacturing industry.
This role is critical to ensuring that all materials, equipment, and subcontracted services are procured on time, within budget, and according to project specifications. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and Accounting to maintain consistent cost control and supply chain efficiency across our fabrication and field projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, supplies, and equipment for precast and erection projects.
- Issue and manage purchase orders (POs) in alignment with project budgets and schedules.
- Maintain vendor and supplier relationships, ensuring best pricing, quality, and delivery performance.
- Track and monitor material deliveries, lead times, and backorders to prevent project delays.
- Coordinate with field supervisors and plant personnel to anticipate material needs.
- Verify that purchased items meet project specifications and safety requirements.
- Support the accounting team in reconciling invoices and resolving PO discrepancies.
- Evaluate supplier performance and recommend improvements or alternatives.
- Assist in developing and maintaining an approved vendor database.
- Contribute to cost-saving initiatives through bulk purchasing and value engineering.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in construction, precast, or manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of construction materials, hardware, and field installation components.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP or PO management systems (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation).
- Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple purchase requests and priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Detail-oriented with excellent recordkeeping and documentation habits.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with precast concrete materials, steel embeds, and rigging equipment.
- Understanding of construction site logistics and scheduling.
- Familiarity with DOT materials compliance or vendor QA/QC procedures.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with field and plant personnel.
