OverviewGovCIO is currently hiring for a Nutanix Senior Systems Engineer to provide extensive Nutanix and VMWare engineering expertise on the BluSCI network. This position will be located in San Antonio, TX and will be an onsite only position.ResponsibilitiesGathers information concerning the capabilities of Company products; investigates the technical capabilities of Company products and competing equipment and/or solutions; stays abreast of developments in hardware and software. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and ensures requirements comply through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the network and system development. Designs interfaces and brings network and system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements.
Coordinates the planning, design, and installation of equipment, using knowledge of engineering and programming as well as sophisticated instruments and computers
Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
Installs all new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
Designs, creates, and builds network services, equipment and devices.
Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.
Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.
Specifically, this position will:
Serve as the Senior Engineer to support multiple Nutanix and VMWare based projects and solutions
Provide expertise to advance and optimize the environment for preparation to move to Zero Trust
Provide knowledge and recommendations to the customer leadership on virtualization strategies
Develop and document white papers in support of those strategies
Possess soft skills to lead, communicate, negotiation, focus on details, prioritization, decision-making, presentation and a strong analytical and problem-solving skill
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and 12+ years of experience (or commensurate experience)
20+ years working in support of complex IT infrastructures within the DoD
Subject Matter Expert in:
Nutanix AHV/AOS
Prism
VMWare vSphere
Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS & DHCP
Experience utilizing:
HYCU backup solutions
VDI solutions (CITRIX, Horizon View, etc)
Datacenter and server lifecycle management
CompTIA Security+ CE
Nutanix Certified Master - Multi Cloud Infrastructure v6.5 or newer
Nutanix Certified Master – Multi-Cloud Infrastructure v5.20
Nutanix Certified Professional – Multi-Cloud Infrastructure v6.5
Nutanix Certified Professional – Multi-Cloud Infrastructure v5.15
VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization
