About the Position:
Glass and Storefront Installer, also known as a Glazier, is responsible for installing, curtain wall and store front systems in commercial buildings. This role requires ability in handling and the ability to work with different framing materials such as aluminum and steel. The installer is essential in ensuring the safety, aesthetics, and functionality of glass structures in buildings.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Glass Installation: Responsible distributing and assistance in installation of glass panel techniques and materials, including putty, glazing compounds, or metal or rubber gaskets.
Frame Installation: Responsible for assisting of installing frames or structural components that hold the glass in place.
Sealing and Waterproofing: Responsible for properly sealing glass installations to prevent water and air infiltration. Utilization of sealants and weatherproofing materials to create a secure watertight seal around the glass.
Safety Precautions: Responsible for following safety protocols, such as wearing protective gear, using safety equipment, and adhering to local building codes and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
Support Tasks: Assist in support tasks, including cleaning and maintaining equipment and worksites.
Learning and Development: Take advantage of opportunities for training and skill development.
Location & commitments:
Full-time: Seeking full-time field workers willing to work 40 hours Monday through Friday. Glaziers are expected to adhere these hours unless otherwise specified by employer.
Hours: Involves regular day-time hours, start times may vary based on jobsite location/travel.
Overtime: During peak construction periods or when deadlines need to be met, glaziers may be required to work overtime, including evenings and weekends.
Location: Office/Warehouse located at 3660 Thousand Oaks Dr. San Antonio, TX 78247
Travel: Glaziers may be required to travel to different job sites. Travel requirements can vary from local projects to out of town assignments.
Punctuality: Arriving on time for work. Being punctual sets an example to your team and demonstrates reliability to employers.
Communication: If unforeseen circumstances or delays occur that may impact attendance, it is important for glaziers to communicate properly and notify employer.
Candidate requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent: Candidates should have a high school diploma or a GED as a basic educational requirement.
Basic Math Skills: Glaziers need to make accurate measurements and calculations when cutting and installing glass. Basic math skills are important for precision in the work.
Manual Dexterity: The ability to use hand and power tools effectively is crucial for tasks such as cutting, shaping, and installing glass.
Drivers License: A valid Driver’s license is required for traveling to various jobsites and locations.
