Description (Basic Function):Assists the Supervisor/Manager with daily clinical operations of the department by establishing Federal and state accreditation regulations and Center policies and procedures. Works with nursing management to oversee clinical and nursing activities such as staffing, ensuring that policies and Procedures are followed, and participation in educational activities, including infection control and safety plans, orientation, and annual skills assessment. Monitors for proper use of equipment, supplies and controlled drugs, and accurate medical record documentation. Assist the supervisors/managers with departmental scheduling.EducationAssociate of Science in Nursing (ASN)Preferred - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Experience3 Years RN Operating RoomPreferred: RN experience in Pre-Op, Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), Emergency Room (ER), Infusion Therapy, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) or hospital settingLicenses/ CertificationsTexas RN license.American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)Preferred:Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)Participates in patient care activities and adheres to the requirements of a Registered Nurse when providing direct patient care. This is demonstrated by:Providing sound nursing judgment based on nursing theory.Implements and evaluates plan of care, gathers information, use of health maintenance guideline use, and assists with rooming and exiting of patients.Awareness of the perioperative role of nurse in the operating room, circulating / scrubbingAbility to consider needs of the department, preplanning, proactive, making adjustments as needed.Organizes equipment, instrumentation, supplies, and medication for cases according to patient needs and physician preference cards.Ensures accuracy of Medical Record documentation including supplies and implants used is performed according to policy.Completes consents and admission requirements.
