This role is designed to enhance our nursing program and support our dedicated faculty and students in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. If you’re ready to shape the future of nursing education, we’d love to hear from you!This is a 12-month non-tenured, clinical-track position located on Tarleton’s main campus in Stephenville, Texas. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. May be required to teach at other campuses or online at the institution’s discretion.The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence and innovation in teaching, maintain an impactful research program, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in the necessary operation of the institution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :80% Administrative:
Maintain current knowledge and trends in nursing education.
Oversee duties of track coordinators and program directors, as appropriate.
Coordinate and implement curriculum decisions and updates in collaboration with the faculty.
Identify and coordinate professional development opportunities for faculty to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Communicate the vision of teaching and learning closely aligned with the mission and goals of the School of Nursing.
Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Clinical Learning and Simulation
(ASCLS) to review and evaluate faculty teaching load.
Develop and conduct ongoing evaluation and implementation of best practices in teaching and learning through a systematic approach to continuous improvement.
Ensure maintenance of all educational requirements outlined by the Texas Board of Nursing and teaching/learning standards set by CCNE and all accrediting agencies across programs.
Foster and support faculty members to achieve and maintain qualities most valued by the academic community, such as teaching excellence, professional and scholarly development, and commitment to university service.
Special tasks/activities as requested by the Dean.
20% Teaching and Service:
Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings to undergraduate and/or graduate students, which may include general education core curriculum.
Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments such as exams, quizzes, papers, etc.
Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate student learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking skills, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
Provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours, feedback on assignments, and mentoring.
Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements related to teaching responsibilities.
Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning and engagement.
Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay current in the field, improve teaching skills, and explore new instructional strategies.
Collaborate with colleagues, departmental faculty, and university staff to coordinate course offerings, share resources, and contribute to program development and improvement.
Participate in institutional service roles including but not limited to, college committees, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.
Minimum Requirements:
Earned doctorate in Nursing from an accredited university (PhD or DNP).
Rank will be determined by reviewing the faculty member’s record of years of experience and professional achievements in teaching and service consistent with the Texas A&M system guidance.
Must have a distinguished record that warrants a faculty appointment at the rank of Clinical Associate or Full Professor.
Credit towards promotion will be assessed and offered at hire
Eligible to obtain and maintain current RN license in the State of Texas.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Previous experience in leadership roles, such as director, department head/chair.
Demonstrated annual progress in professional accomplishments related to teaching and service.
A record of effective leadership in teaching and service in higher education.
Demonstrated experience with accreditation standards and Texas Board of Nursing requirements for nursing education.
Experience mentoring faculty.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduate-level instruction
Written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching and research activities
Ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner
Demonstrated ability to use and understand data to inform strategic planning and resource allocations within the department/school.
