Position Summary:

Prepare the operating room for assigned surgical procedures with proper instrumentation and sterilization

Navigate the nuances of surgical procedures and surgeons you’ll be supporting

Adapt to the needs of emergency situations

Provide clean-up and turnover of operating room to prepare for next patient

Responsibilities

Assist surgical team in the scrubbing role and report any breaks in aseptic technique

Assist with retracting of tissue and organs, and suctioning by holding the retracting

Perform surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure

Assure appropriate equipment and supplies are available for each procedure

Work closely with the instrument room as service specialist/instrument liaison to assure provision of quality

Assist RN with circulator duties while under direct supervision

QualificationsEducation:High School Diploma/GEDLicensure/Certification:Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST/CSFA) required as of September 1, 2010 or "grandfathered" employees or LVNBLS Certification RequiredMinimum Experience:Two (2) years of experience#hellosurgicaltechsPay Range$25.25 - $36.61 /hourWe are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.

  • At Houston Methodist, the Endoscopy Technician I (Endo Tech) position, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or physician, provides support to the gastroenterology (GI) providers and other members of the healthcare team and is directly involved in patient care before, during and after procedures. This position assists with gastroenterology (GI) endoscopy procedures related to preparation for and assisting with room turnaround activities for procedures, which include cleaning and processing of endoscopes and accessory equipment. The Endo Tech I position is familiar with all endoscopy supplies and other related equipment ensuring that items are ready, available and in good working conditions at all times. Other duties for this position will include department upkeep, as delegated by licensed personnel.
