DescriptionLeidos has an excellent opportunity for an Softgoods Engineering Technician to work on the Cargo Mission Contract (CMC). In this position, the successful candidate will provide semi-professional technical support for engineers working in areas such as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. Work pertains primarily to soft goods fabrication, repair, and modifications; as well as altering Crew clothing on a regular basis. Electrical and mechanical fabrication, assembly, trouble-shooting, and testing are desired skills. This position will support both new hardware development projects and the sustaining engineering.US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency and the ability to successfully obtain and Public Trust Security Clearance are required.Primary Responsibilities:

Perform soft good design, manufacturing, and repair

Alter Crew clothing as required

Provide technical engineering support and perform steps via work authorizing documents

Perform work pertaining to laptops, printers, audio visual equi

pment, electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment

Perform cable and electronic component fabrication utilizing NASA recognized workmanship standards (soldering, harness and cable, staking/conformal coating, etc.)

Support multiple projects, prioritize, and accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines

Wrap cables with non-flammable materials in preparation for flight processing

General Lab cleanup and maintenance

This position is covered under the Service Contract Act. The rate of pay for the position is minimum $22.55/hr.Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent, and 1+ year of experience with soft goods design, manufacturing, and repair

General knowledge regarding mathematics and computer science

General understanding of how to read and implement requirements from engineering drawings and work orders

Familiarity with the engineering drawings process

Familiarity with tool calibration

Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years soft goods manufacturing skills. Emphasis on Aerospace experience.

Perform cable and electronic component fabrication utilizing NASA recognized workmanship standards (soldering, harness and cable, staking/conformal coating, etc.)

PWB population using various soldering techniques (through hole and surface mount)

Electronics troubleshooting

Working understanding of Maximo Inventory Management System
