Part-time, short order cook needed at Jericho Country Store! We are a 214+ year-old country store in Vermont with a busy deli & grill! We are known for excellent sandwiches, mouth-watering LaPlatte burgers, and more. We are seeking an experienced cook to work Weds-Sat evenings (or Thurs-Sat) cooking mouthwatering LaPLatte burgers, chicken sandwiches, poutine, fries, and more. Experience in short-order cooking (burgers, fried foods, cheesesteaks, etc) is preferred. Must be 18+.
Hours are 2:30pm-7:45pm (or until closed) Weds-Sat currently, with hours extended in spring/summer (8:00 close, leave by 8:30-8:45). We'd consider Thurs-Sat or even Fri-Sat as well if only looking for a 2-3 shifts instead of 4 shifts.
Duties will include: food prep, cooking (burgers, poutine, fried chicken sandwiches, wings, etc), cleaning, dishes, order taking & fulfillment, and general customer service. You'll generally work alongside one other prep cook/helper who will assist you with food prep, fried goods, and cleaning/closing. On slower Wednesday nights, typically you'll work alone in the grill, with 2 others working in the store at the cash register and deli. On Thurs-Sat nights you will have a prep cook/helper.
You MUST: have an excellent attitude, be a great teammate, have good personal/customer service skills, be a self-starter and a go-getter. Attention and care to food detail and proper sanitary practices a MUST. Must work well in a smaller, confined environment with younger staff. We seek someone with experience cooking and potentially leading other workers. Work can range from very slow to extraordinarily busy (Friday nights). Position could lead to a supervisory role with commensurate pay.
Compensation is commensurate with experience - ranging from $18.00 base pay (<1 year of kitchen experience) to $20.00 base pay (>1 year experience), PLUS shared tips (opportunity to earn $22 per hour or more on busy nights with tips included). Accrued sick time (avg. more than 20 hours work per week) and store discounts are available to part time workers. Fun work environment in a great, old store! Join our team!
