Operations Director - Local Climate Nonprofit

The Director of Operations at Run On Climate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the organization across various domains, including day-to-day operations and upkeep, development work, communications and outreach, and management of our internship and training programs. We are searching for a proactive, organized, and versatile individual capable of managing multiple responsibilities to drive our organization’s mission forward effectively.

Compensation: $20/hour

Employment Type:

Open to both full-time and part-time candidates.

Open to fully remote, hybrid, and in-person (Burlington, VT) work arrangements.

Our ideal candidate can come to Burlington for 1-2 weeks of onboarding and training, even if they plan to work fully remotely thereafter

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations and Upkeep:

Maintain organized and functional filing systems. Frequently brainstorm ways to improve workflow and streamline operational tasks.

Ensure compliance with IRS and state regulations, including timely filing of taxes and forms on behalf of Run On Climate.

Handle human resources activities including, when applicable, hiring, onboarding, coordination with independent contractors, and paperwork.

Manage payroll processes efficiently to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Collaborate closely with our 501(c)3 fiscal sponsor, Ecologistics.

Provide support to the Executive Director and Development Director to enhance their effectiveness. Assist in the preparation of weekly staff/leadership meetings.

2. Communications and Outreach

Contribute to the creation and distribution of a weekly email blast to engage and inform supporters.

Oversee content creation and distribution across various social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Threads, Youtube, and LinkedIn.

Supervise the social media intern team, ensuring proper training and regular meetings.

Take charge of social media content creation during periods of absence of the intern team.

Manage audience inquiries, form fill-outs, and email list sign ups through our website.

Ensure the website is continually functional and up to date.

3. Programmatic Work: Internship and Trainings Programs

Publish internship opportunities in a timely manner prior to each collegiate semester.

Lead candidate recruitment and conduct interviews, overseeing the hiring and onboarding processes efficiently.

Ensure compliance with and maintain relationships with partnering schools.

Collect and analyze feedback at the conclusion of each internship term.

Co-create and co-conduct customized trainings for grassroots organizations and individuals alongside the Executive Director.

4. Fundraising/Development:

Collaborate with the Executive Director and Development Director to develop and execute strategic fundraising plans.

Conduct research, prepare proposals, and apply for grants to secure funding.

Engage in personal network fundraising efforts.

Maintain donor data and manage the organization's database.

Conduct marketing and outreach activities to nurture existing donor relationships and attract new donors.

Desired Skills:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, or environmental studies). We will consider those who have not completed a relevant degree but have extensive relevant experience.

Proven experience in operations management, preferably within the nonprofit sector.

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with exceptional attention to detail, and the capacity to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

Proficiency in managing social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.

Proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets, Drive, Docs, etc.).

Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
