DescriptionWe are looking for an Energy and Climate Specialist who will provide support for a growing practice in the climate change and sustainability field. This position has a strong focus on building energy management, energy data and data management systems, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, planning GHG emission reduction opportunities, and assisting federal and commercial clients with efforts to advance organizational sustainability. The ideal candidate will have a relevant and strong technical background and expertise in energy and GHG management, energy and GHG data management and data management applications, and an eye towards work quality.ICF is at the forefront of preparing leading-edge technical and policy analyses, identifying viable market solutions, building real-world management tools, and implementing programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In climate change and environmental markets, ICF has advised more than 30 governments and international institutions, and served more than 60 companies in the FT Global 500. We develop emissions inventories and carbon footprints; conduct greenhouse gas mitigation policy analyses; assist clients with offset and carbon credit projects; support organizational sustainability; assess the performance of global programs (e.g., climate funds, multilateral development banks), and identify ways they could improve; and support federal, state, local, international, and private sector clients on analyses related to climate change impacts and vulnerabilities, among other service offerings. Preferred candidate will have between 2 to 5 years of professional full-time work experience (in addition to academic) in climate and sustainability. Preferred experience includes greenhouse gas accounting, supply chain, and/or building energy management.

Academic related experience obtained via research, internship, fellowship are a plus and not a substitute for professional full-time work experience requirement (post undergrad).

Role can be based anywhere in the United States remotely or hybrid from a preferred US based ICF office including Arlington, VA (Crystal City), New York City, Salt Lake City, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Denver, and Boston.

What you'll do

Conduct building portfolio energy analyses using Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and other applications.

Conduct greenhouse gas emissions analyses.

Perform quantitative problem-solving, perform data collection and analysis, and manage large datasets.

Write reports for technical and general audiences.

Review literature, conduct research, and synthesize findings into concise and well-written summaries.

Interact with clients.

Prepare presentations, reports, memoranda, and other communication materials.

Prepare visualizations (graphics, dashboards, flowcharts) that effectively summarize technical information/results.

Translate technical topics into terms that are meaningful to more general audiences.

Work with small teams to prepare high-quality products, pitching in wherever necessary.

Complete tasks in fast-paced and self-motivated environment in a timely and efficient manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Sustainability, Environmental or other related technical studies AND 2+ years of demonstrated professional work experience in climate and sustainability. Preferred specific experience includes supply chain, GHG accounting, and building energy management.

Master's Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Sustainability, Environmental or other related technical studies

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel for complex analysis.

Proficiency in Google Suite include Google Sheets for complex analysis.

Strong data and quantitative skills, experience with data visualization including applications such as PowerBI and Tableau is a plus.

Experience with corporate GHG accounting is a plus.

Knowledge of supply chains and/or supply chain GHG accounting is a plus.

Knowledge of building energy management is a plus.
