Data Center Infrastructure Technician

Job DescriptionDaily Job Duties:

On-site vendor management - Responsible for all connectivity activities within expansions, and projects on site including tracking and reporting actual progress related to schedule expectations. Set and communicate clear expectations with the immediate site team, build key relationships with our installation partners and drive a culture of standard methodology, safe working environment, and complete to a vision of 'right first time.'

Quality Assurance - Perform physical inspections to ensure vendor work meets quality standards throughout the build of the data center. Validate physical installs, test reports, build accuracy, and material through all network expansions.

Project Planning & Control - Create, maintain, and report daily on-site project and program scope, schedules and achievements. Work closely with the site Data Center Operations team throughout the project lifecycle.

Ensure LV vendor cabling/fiber equipment is calibrated and measured to OCI specifications.

Manage daily work through internal tooling systems such as JIRA Ticketing and Confluence.

Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively.

Documentation of activities and strict consistency to SOP’s.

Understand, interpret, and alignment to local site requirements.

Be punctual in arriving for shifts on time and provide proper handover reports after shift to the next team member(s).

Participate and complete training that aligns with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new relevant technologies.

Train peers in industry standards.

Requirements:

3 to 5 years working in with structured cabling.

Expert knowledge of industry cable tests procedures and equipment use for multiple cabling systems. (Copper/fiber testing, OTDR, VFL, etc.)

Expert Knowledge of industry cabling standards.

Excellent time management skills.

Diligent with excellent organizational skills.

Be a good teammate with an ability to work independently.

Strong interest in learning new DC networking concepts and technology.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to travel within a dedicated Availability Domain (region)

Preferred Qualifications

2-year or 4-year degree or relevant work experience

3 year+ experience in Structured Cabling Copper/Fiber and testing of cables.

Ability to read and comprehend cut-sheets and cabling matrices

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment.
