Job Title: Water Resource EngineerJob DescriptionOur client is a recognized professional services design firm providing civil engineering, water resources engineering, landscape architecture, sports and recreation, programming and planning, surveying and mapping, and physical site security design to a broad spectrum of market sectors and clients. They have a proven track record of working with federal agencies and offer a dedicated Water Resources Team providing services in stormwater management design, floodplain analysis and permitting, dam breach analysis and permitting, MS4 permitting, stormwater construction inspections, and stormwater operation and maintenance programs. We are seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Water Resources Team within our Chantilly, VA office to work on stormwater design projects supporting new and redevelopment projects. Produce final construction documents
Conduct site visits
Develop local and state permit applications
Prepare technical reports
Research regulatory codes, manuals, and standards
Communicate effectively with team members
Design various SWM facilities, including bioretentions, green roofs, permeable pavements, stormwater ponds, manufactured treatment devices, and underground detention facilities in support of land development projects
Develop and execute stormwater operation and maintenance programs for entities owning large SWM assets
Model and analyze local and FEMA floodplains for existing conditions and proposed alteration condition studies, including designing large culvert/bridge crossings
Analyze and permit state-regulated dams, including dam breach inundation studies, operation and maintenance permitting, alteration permits, emergency action plan development and execution, annual dam inspections, and other dam-related activities
Gain general civil/land development experience
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a similar degree
Strong mathematical/analytical skills
Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills
Strong quality control skills and attention to detail
Proficiency with AutoCAD
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Engineer-in-Training
Proficiency with ArcMap or similar
Proficiency with H&H modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, Flowmaster, HEC-1, TR-20
