Our family estate in southern Albemarle County is hiring a full-time year-round grounds and landscape manager. Duties include:
-all regular lawn maintenance: mowing, edging, fertilizing and other periodic and seasonal turf applications.
- maintenance of a 10,000 square foot Bermuda grass lawn
-care of boxwoods and ornamental plantings
-leaf removal and cleanup
-seasonal mulch application
-operation of Toro irrigation system
-power washing hardscaped areas
-other general repair and maintenance of the property
-maintenance and care of landscaping equipment
-supervision of occasional hired contractors
Experience should include prior horticultural work in central Virginia, familiarity with common plant pests and diseases, and a working knowledge of landscape best practices. Prior experience with turf grass is a bonus. The ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment in the field will be helpful. The work is often physical and subject to weather conditions. You will be responsible for establishing a standard of care for the property and setting your own schedule that keeps the property looking its best year-round. This is a salaried position. A candidate with demonstrated experience and excellent references will start at $50,000 / year.
