Apex is seeking a seasoned Head of Electrical Engineering to lead electrical engineering strategy and execution across a mature portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy assets. As an established IPP, our focus spans development, execution, and long-term asset optimization. This role will ensure technical excellence, fleet reliability, and grid compliance while supporting new project delivery and enhancing operational performance across solar, wind, and energy storage assets.The successful candidate will be well organized, comfortable in a dynamic environment, have strong attention to detail, and can synthesize and conceptualize complex ideas. A passion for renewable energy is a plus.Primary Responsibilities Lead the Electrical Engineering function across the full asset lifecycle: development, EPC execution, commissioning, and operationsEstablish and maintain engineering standards, design criteria, and technical governance across the operating fleet and development pipelineOversee electrical system design for new projects, including substations, collector systems, interconnection facilities, and protection & controlsProvide technical oversight and guidance to Asset Management and Operations teams to improve plant performance, availability, and reliabilityOwn grid compliance strategy, ensuring adherence to ISO/RTO, NERC, and utility requirements across all operating assetsSupport and optimize interconnection strategies, including upgrades, repowering, and capacity expansionsDrive continuous improvement initiatives, including performance analytics, root cause analysis, and corrective action programsPartner with commercial, finance, and development teams to evaluate technical risks, project bankability, and investment decisionsLead technical due diligence for acquisitions, divestitures, and refinancing activitiesManage relationships with EORs, and key equipment suppliers to ensure long-term performance and service qualityProvide executive-level reporting on engineering risks, fleet performance, and capital improvement initiativesBuild, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering organization aligned with company growth and operational goals
