The Department of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for a Pediatric Surgeon position. Rank, tenure status, and compensation will depend upon experience and qualifications. The incumbent is responsible for the clinical care of our pediatric surgical patient population and for participation in student and post-graduate teaching. Opportunities for clinical or laboratory research are available. The selected candidate will pursue scholarly achievements with the goal of promotion within the School of Medicine and the University.The University of Virginia Children's Hospital is ranked as the #1 Children’s Hospital in Virginia and is nationally ranked in 8 specialties by US News and World Reports. The hospital currently has a 54 bed Level III NICU, 19 bed PICU, an intermediate care unit of up to 6 beds, and 43 acute care beds, with expansion of the PICU and NICU to double in size currently underway and expected to open in winter 2027-28. A large new outpatient clinic and outpatient surgery building opened in 2014. The Pediatric Surgery practice encompasses a wide variety of complex pediatric surgery cases. All MIS, ECMO, IMRIS and robotic capabilities are available. All pediatric and pediatric surgical subspecialty and ancillary services are present. The Division of Pediatric Surgery maintains a strong national presence.
