Req ID: RQ168507Type of Requisition: RegularClearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: NonePublic Trust/Other Required: NACI (T1)Job Family: CommunicationsSkills:Communication,External Communication,Press Releases,Web Content,Writing NewslettersExperience:5 + years of related experienceJob Description:We are looking for a passionate and energetic Communication Specialist / Technical Writer to join our team supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention .This position requires an experienced communicator, who will work directly with senior leadership and the communications team to support a broad range of duties, including drafting and publishing materials for speeches, partner meetings, blogs, webinars, national conferences, and other public facing events. This position will also work with the web content creation team to develop graphics, videos and to update content on internal and external facing websites. This position would be ideal for a candidate with a journalism or writing background, who has experience summarizing technical, often complex information and translating it to plan language for consumption by a wider audience.This role is fully remote; however, must be able to work Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone schedule/hours.Job Description

Develops and revises marketing communications materials and provides related support services, including staging trade show and event exhibits, speakers support, briefing support, advertising, brochures, white papers and reports, newsletters, website content, video/multimedia, public affairs, professional association activity and events, philanthropic campaigns, and or other promotional activity

Develops and revises external communications materials and provides related support services, including media and industry analyst relations, news releases, PR support for trade shows, sponsorships and speaking events, by-lined articles, media interviews, developing case histories and story pitches, and industry awards

Develops and revises internal and/or executive communications materials and provides related support services, including internal web postings, newsletters, e-letters, magazines, reports, events, speaking opportunities, briefing material, presentations, demos, brochures, video, web casts, document reproduction, and or other communications related activity

Coordinates with more-experienced Communications Specialists and various Division and department managers to ensure accurate information is incorporated in communications messages, materials, and activities

Supports proposal development activities as required

Maintains knowledge of company services, products, partners, and organization

Maintains knowledge of major industry, competitor and customer events, issues, and activities

Required Skills and Experience:

BA/BS and 5+ years of experience

Experience with content creation, document clearance processes and Section 508 compliance

Demonstrated ability to coordinate large communication projects with multiple stakeholders

Experience creating communication products for internal and external audiences, including FAQ's, Infographics, social media articles and policy documents

Experience translating technical jargon and policy statements into plain language

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust level clearance

Must be able to work on Eastern Standard Time schedule/hours

Desired Skills and Experience

Masters degree preferred

2+ years maintaining content and appearance of websites/intranet

Experience scripting, recording, and publishing videos.

Experience with Data Modernization or other large scale, technical or public health initiatives, is a plus.
