Department Summary:The Software Engineering & Computing Department (SWEC) is seeking an Intermediate Software Engineer with a desire to work on innovative advanced approaches and technologies to solve our sponsors’ most critical technological problems. In this role, you will provide hands-on support to critical sponsor problems in Software Engineering. In addition, you will have an opportunity to work in many different sponsor domains with a wide variety of software engineering and information technology applications, protypes and systems. This Intermediate Software Engineer should not only excel in software development but also possess strong communication and teamworking skills. Roles & Responsibilities:Do you want to make the world safer by applying your software engineering skills? At MITRE, work as a trusted advisor to provide thought leadership and problem-solving skills to the government to deliver needed capabilities to address the world's most difficult problems. This role requires a software engineer who possesses strong programming capabilities and communication skills. Successful candidate(s) will learn new techniques and approaches on-the-job, working in collaboration with other team members.Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM major and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience

Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Hands on expertise in software development life cycle and is fully responsible for delivery – including definition, completion, and technical quality.

Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills

This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference given to qualified applicants holding active clearance.

Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM major and 1+ years of experience.

Experience in software design and implementation

Experience in agile software delivery (e.g., Scrum, XP)

Fluent in one or more languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, Java, C or C#)

Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
