Mother BabyCare at Chippenham Hospital:

For our mothers our Labor and Deliver Unit includes 12 Labor, Delivery, Recovery (LDR) suites, 2 triage rooms, an Operating Room (OR) suite, and 14 private Mother Baby rooms. We see a diverse population of patients from all over the greater Richmond area in our fast-paced LDR, where we deliver on average 1,100 to 1,200 babies each year.

For our babies we staff our Newborn Nursery to provide exceptional care for 20 of our smallestand most precious patients. For high-risk pregnancies and childbirths, we maintain a 15-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), as well as intermediate care nursery, and 24/7 neonatologist coverage.

At Chippenham we utilize AWHONN staffing guidelines to support a positive work environment for our team of Registered Nurses. You will be supported by our highly-trained Obstetricians, Perinatologists, Anesthesiologists,IBCLC Lactation Consultants, OB OR Techs and Patient Care Techs.

As aClinical Nurse Coordinator Registered Nurse in Mother Babyyou will perform patient care as needed, motivate and champion staff to reach their professional goals, and work closely with the Unit Nursing Director to provide leadership, including:

  • Clinical management of the unit
  • Role model providing leadership for the unit
  • Staff personnel management including scheduling, orientation, training
  • Customer satisfaction (patient, visitors, physicians and staff)
  • Compliance with professional, regulatory, governmental and organizational standards
  • Quality management activities, and much more.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Preferred: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Required: Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact Licenses.
  • Required: American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Health Care Provider.
  • Preferred: ACLS, PALS, NRP

Experience:

  • Required: At least 1 year of experience as a RN in a Mother Baby Unit with demonstrated competency in critical care skills
  • Preferred: 5 or more years current nursing experience, ideally in MBU.
  • Preferred: Experience as a Charge Nurse or Clinical Nurse Coordinator with demonstrated proficiency.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated leadership ability with the skill to educate others.
