Description Robert Half is looking to hire a skilled Accounting Clerk for an expanding organization. In this role, you will be responsible for data entry, matching invoices to purchase orders and/or vouchers, and assisting in the process of Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R). This is a long-term contract / temporary to hire position based in the Norfolk, Virginia area.Major responsibilities
Organize documents that require knowledge in determining proper classification of expenditure codes and accounting codes
Submit financial figures to journals and ledgers
Work with Accounts Payable: A/P invoice matching & filing, vendor invoices and disbursement filing
Rectify discrepancies by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as required
Work with Accounts Receivable: process daily invoices/credit, apply cash receipt, and help with collection of past due balance
General accounting: help with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, other ad hoc projects
Compose statements and reports that require utilization of a variety of sources Requirements - Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data
Ability to multitask, collaborate and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment
Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
Command of bank reconciliations
Strong familiarity with bank reconciliations
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Adeptness in Sage Software
Prepare Deposits experience
Account reconciliation experience
AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred
3+ years of relevant experience
Spreadsheet and ERP system experience is a plus
