Description We are seeking a Billing Clerk to join our team in Norfolk, Virginia. The role involves monitoring payments, managing accounts receivable, and ensuring timely and accurate billing. This role is a short term contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Analyze billing data and prepare comprehensive monthly reports to track financial performance. Manage the process of billing and collecting payments from designated payers. Ensure accurate and timely filing of claims and billing for primary and secondary payers including Medicare, Private Pay, Hospice, Veterans Administration, Long Term Care Insurance, and others. Monitor account aging and take necessary actions for accounts requiring further attention. Comply with all relevant federal and state laws, CMS and VDH regulations, and maintain confidentiality of data in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. Prepare bills for all Private Pay sources, meeting individual requirements for billing. Respond to payer source inquiries, verify resident coverage, and resolve billing concerns in a timely manner. Process month-end billing and reports for all payer sources, ensuring each pay source is processed separately and promptly. Complete and transmit Notice of Admission (NOA) or Notice of Election (NOE) and claims promptly and confirm transmission received by the Medicare Administrator Coordinator (MAC). Enter all contractual adjustments by the end of month closing and compile the aged trial balance within one week of month end close or as otherwise directed. Requirements Possess a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Billing Clerk or similar role. Proficient in computerized billing systems and software. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in accounting functions. Proven ability to handle accounts receivable (AR). Experience in handling various billing functions. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. High school diploma or equivalent required; further education in finance or accounting will be considered a plus.
