Casual, upscale Italian restaurant seeking a talented sous chef for long-term employment. We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef who is a leader, hardworking and a team player. Chef must have an interest in locally sourced and sustainable food. You will be working closely with our Executive Chef to assist in creating new menu items. This job is perfect for the person who is passionate and has an appetite to learn and lead.
You're responsible are but not limited to:
- Ordering and maintaining food costs
- Creating prep lists for the staff
- Expediting
- Preparing and maintaining work station on the line
- Maintaining professional standards
- Working cleanly, efficiently, and with respect for ingredients
- Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant's recipes, portioning, cooking and service standards
- Keep equipment clean and in excellent working condition
- Motivating the staff
- Maintain a positive, work environment via effective, professional communication with other employees and managers
Job requirements include but is not limited to the following:
- Experience working in a professional kitchen for a minimum of 2 years
- Vast knowledge of culinary techniques, procedures and equipment
- Friendly, outgoing, energetic team player with a positive attitude
- Ability to think quickly and multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
- Flexible schedule
- Enforcement of safety/sanitation standards and procedures
Ability to take and give direction
-You should be able to work well under pressure.
