Job Description: Practical Dental Assisting of VA Beach is seeking an experienced Dental Assisting Instructor for our Private Post-secondary School in Virginia Beach.

Instructor will be responsible for 1-2 small classes of students, to include classes on T/TH evenings, possibly more upon interview. NO weekend classes. Hours are approximately 18-25 per week.
Minimum Requirements:
Verifiable work experience including a minimum of 10 years’ continuous General practice experience and be proficient as a Chairside Clinical Dental Assistant. Must know Four-Handed and Six-Handed Passing technique.
Must be knowledgeable and/or experienced with all Dental specialties, including restorative, Oral surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, etc., and all lab & sterilization techniques.
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated success in collaborating with diverse groups of employees and students and must demonstrate of highest levels of integrity and professionalism in all aspects, including appearance, demeanor, and attitude.
Ability to work in an observation/coaching style environment. Capable to prioritize, accept responsibility, and work within deadlines. Superior organizational and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated commitment to education and have a strong desire to help others achieve their personal goals.
Have solid computer software skills including Microsoft Office.
OHSA compliant and knowledge and enforcement of all regulation and laws.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous teaching experience in education and be enthusiastic and optimistic.

Duties will include:
Under general supervision from the program director, the dental instructor will perform a variety of routine teaching duties.
Instructors are also responsible for sound educational practices and the academic development of each student. Instructors will also manage their classroom environment and promote a positive and engaging learning experience, provide support, tutoring and other assistance as needed.
Instructors are to model the professional behaviors, language, and activities expected of our students.
PDA utilizes classroom, lab, and clinical practice instruction, student’s assessment mechanisms, and classroom management techniques to provide engaged classroom experience to students.
Instructors will ensure that instructional materials and equipment are ready for student use, sufficient in quantity, and properly maintained and are in working order prior to class time.
Participate in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development activities to ensure an active and engaged classroom experience for all students.
Prepare students to take and pass the Dental Assisting National Board Exams.
Ensure consistent student attendance, enter daily attendance, note reasons for absences to the Program Coordinator
Will have access to private office for preparing lesson plans, use of computer and private rest room
Have solid computer software skills including Microsoft Office.
