DescriptionThe Leidos Health Mission Solutions Business area of Leidos is seeking a FinOps Engineer to join our federal health customer, focused on managing and optimizing our diverse multi-cloud portfolio including several SaaS products. This role demands a deep understanding of cloud economics, SaaS management, and the ability to collaborate effectively across finance, engineering, and DevOps teams to optimize cloud services and SaaS products usage and expenditures. Specialist to navigate the challenges of cloud spending who understands well the dynamic and ephemeral nature of cloud environments and their financial implications.As a FinOps Analyst and Engineer, you will be pivotal in transforming cloud financial management approach, ensuring that cloud investments are optimized and aligned with strategic goals while promoting a culture of financial accountability and efficiency.Role is primarily telecommuting with the preference for the ability to be onsite in the DC/MD area one day per week.Candidate MUST be located in the United States currently and for the current 3 consecutive years and be a US Citizen or US Person (Green Card Holder) with the Ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.Key Responsibilities:

Cloud and SaaS Services Budget Management: Oversee the management and optimization of a portfolio of Cloud services and SaaS products, ensuring they align with the agency's operational requirements and financial constraints.

Cost Visibility and Optimization: Provide comprehensive insights into Cloud services and SaaS products spending, to drive better financial decisions and operational efficiency.

Usage Analysis: Analyze current and historical usage trends to optimize the balance between prepaid and on-demand Cloud and SaaS instances, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.

Financial Collaboration: Work in tandem with the Finance team to refine show back and chargeback mechanisms, enhancing cost transparency and accountability.

Data-Driven Reporting: Develop detailed reports and dashboards that deliver actionable insights from cloud billing tools, data lakes, and other relevant data sources.

Establish Roles and Responsibilities: Clearly define who is responsible for monitoring what aspects of cloud services or SaaS products usage.

Anomaly Monitoring: Proactively monitor Cloud services and SaaS products consumption to identify and address any anomalies or unexpected expenditure spikes, maintaining budgetary compliance.

Strategic Cost Management: Employ advanced analytical skills to forecast SaaS demand, optimize costs, and develop strategies for efficient resource utilization and waste reduction.

Decentralized Accountability: Empower and hold accountable various cloud service consumers and teams, enabling them to make informed cost-related decisions.

Comprehensive Implementation: Utilize the approach to embed best practices into the architecture, implementation, and operations, ensuring they align with broader IT strategies like application modernization, UX, and DevOps.

Collaboration and Communication: Facilitate strong communication channels across different departments to ensure that FinOps principles are understood and practiced organization wide.

Technical Collaboration: Partner with engineering and software development teams to recommend cost-effective cloud services and SaaS solutions, ensuring alignment with the agency's technical and financial objectives.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related field, with advanced qualifications in cloud management or SaaS being advantageous as well as 8 years of related experience.

Proven experience in managing cloud services and SaaS products within a multi-cloud environment, especially in a federal setting.

Strong analytical skills to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets and optimize SaaS expenditures.

Familiarity with cloud/SaaS billing tools, and ability to assess and put to use third party tools that provide global cost management across multi cloud and SaaS environments.

Excellent communication abilities to effectively liaise between financial and technical teams.

Deep understanding of cloud and SaaS pricing models and cost optimization strategies.
