Marshall Street, Richmond, VA 23219Schedule:PRNShift:7: RotatingHours:Job Details:VCU Health System's Trauma/ Medical Emergency is seeking an Hourly Clinical Nurse. The Adult Emergency Department offers full service, acute care to our large, diverse patient population, ranging all acuity levels and service lines. As a regional referral center and accredited organization in numerous specialties, the ED serves patients with acute emergencies such as stroke, STEMI, cardiac arrest, sepsis and trauma. Our focus on throughput and timely patient care contribute to this high acuity, fast paced environment.ResponsibilitiesIntegrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of the patient and family.Assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.Provides direction, education, and begins to acquire leadership skills at the unit level.Delivers and accurately documents direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.Safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.Completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program within 5 years of hire, if not currently BSN-prepared or higher, will be a requirement for continued employment. Completion of our accredited Nurse Residency Program will be a requirement for all new graduate nurse hires. This program provides transitional support during the first year of practice by fostering comprehensive, individualized preceptorships and guiding all new graduates along the journey towards successful promotion to Clinical Nurse II within the Professional Advancement Program (PAP) at VCU Health.QualificationsRequiredGraduate of, or pending graduation from, an accredited RN nursing program. Current RN licensure in Virginia or compact state, or eligible for licensure. All selected new graduate applicants must take and pass NCLEX within 90 days of graduation date.
