Virginia Tax’s Office of Technology is seeking a Data Developer for their Interfaces & Business Analysis team. This position will provide analysis, design, and program development activities which will create computer applications that: allow for timely processing of tax information, provide accurate information to taxpayers and tax employees, and allow for the timely deposit of tax collections.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Performing system analysis of the agency’s core operations that includes; developing requirements definitions for automated business solutions, analyzing system problems and providing solutions, and evaluating requests to determine feasibility
  • Developing system designs to implement efficient, effective, and reasonable solutions to business problems
  • Performing program development in an Informatica environment or other development environments as assigned
  • Providing project support by analyzing and researching problems, assisting the Systems Analyst with technical evaluations, assisting fellow team members with technical problems, and performing ad hoc requests when necessary

Minimum Qualifications
  • Considerable experience working with Informatica or other ETL tools
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Oracle, SQL, and Oracle stored procedures
  • Experience with Linux/Unix shell scripting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience independently analyzing program specifications, coding and testing programs, and resolving problems across multiple systems
  • Proficiency in writing design specifications for complex programs
  • Experience solving automated system problems and working in a team environment
  • Experience in designing and building software products to deliver business solutions and strong working knowledge of information processing systems
  • Experience working within Agile and/or Scrum project management methodology

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or management information systems, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of data warehouse concept
  • Experience with Oracle APEX or other low code development tools to create applications
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server
Anticipated hiring range is commensurate with experience, up to $101,000.
