If you answered “yes,” then read on!We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.Job SummaryDominion’s System Operations Engineering department is seeking a motivated individual to support the Company’s evolving transmission grid. Interns will work with experienced team members to assist with the configuration, administration, and maintenance of EMS network applications as well as the development of Synchrophasor Applications or Synchrophasor based research for use in real-time operations. In addition, interns will support and facilitate the automation of the department’s processes. Specific assignments may include the following:

Support the development of situational awareness tools in the control operations room

Support the de v elopment of advanced PMU based applications

Analytical studies and research to support system reliability or planning

Write programs in a variety of computer languages, including C#, Perl, Javascript, SQL, Visual Basic, Python for in-house applications

Enhance, debug, test and validate developed applications

Develop documentation such as software application manuals and training documentation

Participate in internal meetings with project management

Perform other duties as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Comprehensive understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including an understanding of three-phase power systems

Experience with topics such as State Estimation, Power Flow, and Contingency Analysis

Understanding of the role of a System Operating Center.

Equally effective working independently or in a team environment

Understanding of and experience working with synchrophasor data

Strong oral and written communication skills;

Time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments;

Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems

Proficiency with standard technologies and software such as Microsoft Office and file formats such as CSV, XML, and CIM

Preferred:

Experience and familiarity with Programming languages such as Python, HTML5, CSS, SQL, JavaScript, C#, .NET Programming, Visual Basic, C,, PowerShell

Education Requirements

Must be currently pursuing a graduate degree, graduating May 2025 or later.

Must have earned a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field and be accepted to and working on a master’s or Ph.D. degree in engineering (preferred fields include electrical engineering with a concentration in power systems, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering with a focus on energy systems) from an ABET accredited Engineering program at a four year or post-graduate college or university.

Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science majors are preferred.

Must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher.
