The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux system administration and a solid understanding of networking concepts and technologies. This role involves managing and maintaining our Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.Key Responsibilities:
This role is onsite in Norfolk, VA.
Manage and maintain Linux servers, ensuring high availability and performance.
Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
Implement and manage security measures to protect systems and data.
Configure and manage network services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, and VPN.
Collaborate with the networking team to ensure seamless integration of network and system components.
Automate repetitive tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
Manage and maintain configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
Perform regular system backups and recovery procedures.
Monitor system logs and respond to incidents and alerts.
Document system configurations, procedures, and changes.
Ideal Candidate:
Proven experience as a Linux Systems Engineer or similar role.
Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
Experience with network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, VPN).
Familiarity with network devices and concepts (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls).
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
Solid understanding of system security and best practices.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
