Servicing, testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining low-voltage security cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with Access Control, Video/CCTV, IP Cameras, Fiber, Security, and Voice/Data Systems

Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem

Installing and mounting electronic devices, panels, sensors, and components

Use of an Electronic (FLUKE) multi-meter to find open circuits, short circuits, and ground faulted circuits in networking or other field wiring

Have a working knowledge of class 2 cabling as it pertains to NFPA 72, BICSI and other relevant codes established and governing the installation of low voltage systems

Analyze blueprints, schematics, and drawings of fire alarm and/or other related electrical system for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems

Inspects electrical / security systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating conditions, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending preventative maintenance

Review all work orders assigned and provide daily updates to scheduling coordinators and customers

Communicate all work prior to starting, as well as work completed to the customer upon arrival and before leaving work site

Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency in completing all assigned work orders

Inspecting customer sites and reviewing work orders, blueprints/plans, and installation manuals to determine material requirements and installation procedures to provide customer solutions

Qualifications for Low Voltage Technician

At least 3+ years of experience installing voice and data systems is preferred

Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA or NEC Standards a plus

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and provide two professional references

Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license

Must adhere to OSHA safety standards

Must be able to see colors/knowledge of color codes

A well-developed knowledge of common low-voltage technology
