Our IT systems are primarily hosted in Microsoft Azure's commercial cloud.We are seeking an experienced IT Systems and Security Specialist with expertise in Azure Networking, Azure Virtual Desktops, and process automations to support our continued growth. This position plays a key role in overseeing the performance, security, and optimization of our cloud-based systems. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cybersecurity practices, with a focus on upcoming CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) requirements. The role offers flexibility to work remotely or from any of our five offices located in Alexandria, Lynchburg, Richmond (VA), Raleigh (NC), or Atlanta (GA).Key Responsibilities:
Azure Management and Automation:
The Senior Cloud Solutions Specialist will administer and maintain our Azure Networking and Virtual Desktop environments to ensure reliability and security across all systems. This includes monitoring performance, addressing system interruptions, and implementing business process automations by integrating tools such as Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and Azure. Collaboration will be key, as the role requires close coordination with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and third-party consultants to identify and implement technology-driven process improvements.
IT Support:
The Specialist will provide IT support to end-users and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues. This includes resolving system outages, ensuring seamless performance, and communicating technical information effectively to non-technical team members.
Cybersecurity:
The role involves managing cybersecurity tools and responding to incidents flagged by our third-party cybersecurity partner. You will contribute to the company's overall security posture by applying cybersecurity principles, investigating incidents, and supporting preparation for CMMC compliance by implementing security requirements into Azure systems.
Network Administration:
The Specialist will oversee network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls, as well as manage SSL certificates, DNS hosting, and in-office Wi-Fi devices. Ensuring that network security protocols are up-to-date and effective will be a critical aspect of this role.
Collaboration:
The Specialist will work closely with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external consultants to support IT needs across various projects. Effective communication and collaboration will ensure that technical solutions align with company objectives and user needs.
Requirements:
We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in managing Azure Networking and Virtual Desktop environments, including remote device management using Microsoft Intune. The ideal applicant will have strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of network and endpoint security, including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), anti-virus solutions, and authentication protocols. Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential to work successfully with team members across various departments.
Desirable Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting organizations handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), particularly those familiar with CMMC requirements and compliance processes. A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field is preferred, along with experience supporting BIM and CAD software in virtualized environments. Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate, Azure Virtual Desktop Sp cialty, or Security+ CE will be considered a strong asset.
Additional Skills:
Knowledge of additional Microsoft Azure services, such as Purview, File Storage, LogicApps, and EntraID, is highly desirable, along with a solid understanding of network architecture and security protocols.
