DE’s IT-Telecommunication’s Transport Network Services group provides engineering support for all aspects of design, deployment, and operational support of the MPLS and DWDM networks and associated services.Scope of WorkDE is looking to expand its engineering staff with a candidate to provide detailed engineering support for Dominion Energy’s MPLS and DWDM networks and service deployments as well as Tier-3 level operations escalations. Tasks will include:

Adherence to MPLS and DWDM architecture standards during the development of work orders

MPLS and DWDM network and services design, implementation, and testing

NMS system integration

Maintaining accurate documentation and databases

Job order creation to support MPLS and DWDM deployments including assessment of power requirements (AC/DC), rack space requirements, and site-specific considerations.

Creating and/or providing feedback in the development of MOPs (Methods of Procedure)

Network/services outage support

Additional InformationDominion Energy is currently using a hybrid schedule of alternating one week in the office and one week remote.Typical working hours are, but are not limited to, Monday thru Friday, 7:00am to 4:30pm.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceSr. Network Analyst: 5+ yearsNetwork Specialist: 7+ years of experience working with deployments of MPLS and DWDM network infrastructure and services and be able to demonstrate:

Expert knowledge level of MPLS design concepts for networks and Layer 2/3 services including protocols like LLDP, BFD, ISIS, OSPF v2/3, and BGP; Layer 2/3 services like Virtual Private Routed Network (VPRN), Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS); Virtual Leased Line (VLL) like e-pipe, i-pipe; Circuit Emulation services like c-pipe; QoS (network and services), IP filters, security features/concepts, and CLI proficiency.

Experience with Nokia 7250-IXR, 7210-SAS, 7750-SR, 7705-SAR, and NMS systems like Network Services Platform (NSP) preferred but solid background with other vendors’ MPLS products will be considered.

Expert knowledge level of DWDM hardware design concepts and DWDM service design options.

Experience with the Nokia 1830 DWDM platform is preferred but experience with other platforms will be considered.

Strong oral and written communication skills

Effective computer skills including detailed knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Products: Visio, Power Point, Excel, Word, and Outlook

Ability to function effectively within a team environment

Knowledge of Circuit Vision, SolarWinds Orion, Ciena MCP a plus

Working knowledge of IT media transport such as inside/outside plant fiber, microwave (RF), cellular (LTE), etc.

Working knowledge of transport system timing protocols
