Catering Support Coordinator - 501931SUMMARYThe Catering Coordinator plans and assists in executing special event activities for the catering department to include high level events, conferences, and off campus and on campus clientele. The catering coordinator provides administrative support to the Director of Catering and event managers.RESPONSIBILITIES:Event Planning Develops new menus and event packages for clients. Collaborates in menu planning, design, decor, associated details.Principal liaison with all event planning on campus.Creates and coordinates custom events for clients and special events, including the President's office and Board of Trustees, which requires high level detail and accuracy to ensure events are planned and executed successfullyCoordinate the purchase, timing and delivery of purchase orders in food management inventory software and vendor needs.Assists in event set-up or management, as needed.Administrative Support Performs duties as a system administrator of catering event software.System administrator of catering website information and softwareProcesses and tracks invoices, alcohol requisitions, event orders, distribution of paperwork, client information and associated reports.Responsible for ABC alcohol protocols for department, cash reconciliation and documentation to ensure compliance.Assists with other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:General knowledge of menu development, food presentation, and decoration techniquesGeneral knowledge of event planning proceduresGeneral knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and event planning software and ability and willingness to learn new software systems.Detailed and demonstrate skills in effectively anticipating and organizing work priorities to meet deadlines.Ability to work with minimal supervision and successfully prioritize tasks with good judgement.Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines.Friendly and service oriented. Ability to work with tact and diplomacy.Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information.Team oriented; works in conjunction with outside vendors, student staff, and university faculty and staff.Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standingEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:High School or GED required. Associate or bachelor's Degree preferred.2 years administrative support experience3-5 years Food service experience preferred.Catering experience a plusWORK HOURS:Full-time, non-exempt positionMonday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 8 hrs./day; 40 hrs./week Some evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate business and catering program workloadSALARY STRUCTURE:Pay Grade 4 (Hiring Range $18.18 to $22.72 per hour)ABOUT UR:At the University of Richmond, we're creative, inclusive, and determined.
