Adams Construction Company is one of the oldest asphalt paving firms in Virginia. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Accounting Associate is a position that will allow the selected candidate the opportunity to be exposed to various competencies within the organization. The Accounting Associate supports the overall objectives of the global finance and accounting located in Roanoke, VA. The position will be responsible for Accounts Payable processing, Accounts Receivable support, equipment time entry, processing third party payable requests and numerous other duties. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, and the ability to learn various accounting applications and participate in implementation of new technology.

Assume responsibility for the timeliness and the accuracy of accounts payable invoice input

Review vouchers, invoices, account statements, check requests and other documents

Credit card reconciliations

Process truck hire invoices and maintain truck vendor records

Provide any required assistance to office management

Provide excellent customer service to customers, internal and external - answering questions, providing information, making referrals and assuring appropriate follow-up

Create and update spreadsheets for various projects and accounting functions

Enter Equipment and Truck Hours

Front desk customer service support (Telephone and in-person)

Various other tasks as assigned by Supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Regular, predictable attendance is crucial in this position.

The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

The capability to communicate information and ideas in writing so that others will understand. This includes preparation of documents such as correspondence, reports, memos and emails.

The skill to analyze data and compile reports as required by management.

The ability to comprehend and organize a problem and then to select a mathematical method or formula to solve the problem.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of two years of accounting or related experience; preferred college coursework in accounting or business;

Must be strong and proficient with Microsoft products including but not limited to Excel and Word;

Be able to comprehend and follow instructions and be able to multi-task;

Perform complex and repetitive tasks;

Maintain a fast work pace and high-volume work load;

Be a strong team player and able to take initiative on projects;

Exceptional organizational skills to effectively coordinate and complete a variety of tasks in a timely manner
