Employed Wound Care Physician Specialist with faculty opportunity & research potential – Roanoke Virginia

Carilion Clinic headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia has an opportunity available for a Wound Care Specialist to join a busy practice with eight Physicians.

An established practice within the Carilion Clinic family has an excellent employed opportunity for a Wound Care Physician to join an already successful team and practice. This is an outpatient practice located in Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital which is also home to Jefferson College of Health Sciences and Radford University. Outpatient Specialty Wound Care services have been offered within the practice for the last 16 years. Typical hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, with no call. The Wound Care Physician will work with a team of 8 that includes dedicated Physicians, Podiatrists, a Plastic Surgeon ranging from full-time to part-time. In addition, a Physician from Carilion Inpatient Wound Care floats to provide additional coverage. This practice offers the full continuum of care through our medical home model. In addition to enjoying a weekday position with no call required you will be able to work with a dedicated team of Wound Care specialists from administrative to clinical, a staff that sees the patient as part of the team and celebrates positive steps and outcomes together. The Wound Care Center has 2 Hyperbaric Chambers and has plans to increase that number. Hyperbarics is about 15% of the position and the vision for the Wound Care Center is to continue to expand to SNFs, our Community Hospital in Christiansburg (30 minutes away), and to expand and build a robust program for our Franklin County Community.

This excellent opportunity is only available due to the expansion of services and the pending retirement of a long term Wound Care Physician and it offers the ability to enjoy working in a well-established practice with exceptional long-term nursing and support staff that are dedicated to taking care of the needs of the Wound Care Patient. This position includes working in satellite clinics that are within one hour of Roanoke, but only for 1 day a week. Even more this Wound Care Physician Opportunity offers Faculty Appointment to the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and research through the VTCSOM with Fralin Biomedical Research Institute is encouraged and supported.

Qualifications

Must be BE/BC in either Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or General Surgery.
