Whatcom Community College welcomes applications for the Student Success Coach position. This position is responsible for direct services and systems coordination to advance student retention and degree/certificate completion. The position provides advising and coaching to underrepresented and marginalized students, including connecting them to career development and academic planning, academic support, and financial resources. Reporting to the Dean for Student Success, the Student Success Coach collaborates with key student services departments, students, faculty, and instructional partners to develop college-wide retention and completion strategies and support services for WCC's diverse student population.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Conduct and evaluate strengths-based career and academic advising and student success coaching for underrepresented and marginalized students.

-Provide students with timely and accurate educational information on degrees, certificates, courses, college policies & procedures, and campus & community resources. Evaluate and recommend changes to programs of study; provide coaching for degree/certificate completion.

-Provide targeted outreach, re-entry, and career and academic advising support to former students returning to the College.

-Collaborate with Admissions & Outreach, Academic Advising and Career Services staff to develop effective communication and delivery intervention and success coaching strategies for students on academic warning, probation, and suspension.

-Collaborate with the Dean for Student Success to assist with Early Alert initiatives, academic progress interventions, retention, graduate retrieval and completion efforts.

-Serve on committee and work groups to inform and reform entry, progression, and completion services and practices.

-Attend all advisor training meetings and communicate status updates and outcomes as appropriate.

-Participate in institutional committees and training that are related to student success and retention goals and enhance opportunities for WCC students.

-Attend state, regional, and national conferences and training programs as appropriate.

-Perform duties as assigned and/or delegated by the Dean for Student Success.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

-Demonstrated experience supporting diverse populations and demonstrated experience working in a diverse environment, inclusive of people of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, gender/sexuality, and ethnic backgrounds and identities.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Demonstrated experience providing advising and/or coaching in a college setting.

-Excellent verbal, listening, writing, problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills.

-Demonstrated ability and experience teaching and facilitating dynamic, interactive, and innovative workshops and presentations.

Salary and Appointment:

-This is a full-time Administrative/Exempt position. Exempt from Washington State civil service law with an annual salary based on a range of $41,000.00-$44,000.00 annually, depending on experience.

-Forty hours is a standard full-time work week.

Benefit Package:

-The position comes with a full benefit package, including health, dental, life, long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan.

-Accrues 8 hours per month of sick leave and 14.67 hours per month vacation leave.
