Being a part of ATS offers an opportunity to build meaningful partnerships, innovate new ideas, do the right thing, and make our company a great place to work!SUMMARY: The Mechanical Design Engineer develops engineering design and drawings for details, assemblies, and installations to support the aircraft modification and Parts Manufacture Approval (PMA) programs. This position assists, mentors, and trains less experienced engineering staff, and interacts with different members of internal and external organizations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Mechanical Design Engineer I:

Develops and designs aircraft structure and interior parts to support the required aircraft reconfiguration.

Develops designs that meet the technical, schedule, and cost objectives.

Researches aircraft configurations, technical specifications, and/or Statement of Work to ensure proper interface between aircraft structure, systems, and interior products.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Mechanical Design Engineer II:

Participates in the development of Request for Quotation (RFQ) required to complete the reconfiguration program by providing scope, hours, and parts for the applicable RFQs.

Develops Engineering Orders and Work Instructions for aircraft installations.

Provides written technical accomplishment instructions for aircraft modifications or repairs to maintenance, customer, and regulatory authorities as necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Mechanical Design Engineer I:

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering or related field, with two (2) or more years of relevant aerospace experience preferred; or five (5) years of equivalent aircraft design experience required.

OEM airframe, system, and interior design practices experience preferred.

Aircraft interior and/or VIP retrofit experience preferred.

Mechanical Design Engineer II:

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering or related field, with five (5) or more years of relevant aerospace experience preferred; or eight (8) years of equivalent aircraft design experience required.

OEM airframe, system, and interior design practices experience preferred.

Aircraft interior and/or VIP retrofit experience preferred.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit, stand, and walk; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up.The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Compensation Mechanical Design Engineer I:The full base pay range for this position is$68,000 – $98,000annually, exclusive of benefits or potential bonuses.Mechanical Design Engineer II: The full base pay range for this position is$83,000 – $124,000annually, exclusive of benefits or potential bonuses.The lower end of the range represents the target base pay for those beginning or developing in the role. The higher end of the range is intended for those who have mastered the role, with proven significant expertise, high achievement, and specialized skills. If you are hired at ATS, your salary will be based on factors including skills, education and experience. In addition to those factors – we consider internal equity of our current employees when determining offers. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
